Our Tutors
One of the first questions children ask about Kip McGrath is: "Will it be like school?" Like all good schools, we employ enthusiastic, fully qualified and experienced teachers as tutors; but our teachers will be working individually with up to five children.
If this appeals to you, and you are a primary or specialist secondary maths teacher, then we can offer you competitive pay, together with a stimulating work environment.
Hilary is the Centre Director and our principal tutor. She says about teaching at Kip:
"The atmosphere that we have created, of children being enthusiastic to learn and teachers being able to teach in a calm environment, is one that is difficult to replicate in normal school classrooms. It is also a joy to be able to plan just for individual children's needs and see them flourish."
Gloria is one of our primary tutors. A graduate in psychology, with a postgraduate diploma in Special Educational Needs, she has been teaching since 1990; with experience across the primary range at schools in Derbyshire and Lancashire. She says:
"Working at Kip allows me to do what I entered the teaching profession for - teach. I love being able to just get on and teach. The small group sizes means you can build up relationships with the children, that just isn't possible with a large class, and it's very rewarding to see them develop in confidence and make progress."
Mark is one of our primary tutors. He qualified in 1995 with a B Ed (Hons) degree in the 5 to 13 age range and specialises in literacy and numeracy. He says:
"The four pupils to one tutor ratio allows me to build up a trusting relationship with each pupil. This in turn enables me to provide tailored one to one hands on teaching for each child, that the current school system does not provide. It is a pleasure to see the pupils' confidence grow and with it the excellent progress made in either literacy or numeracy."
