Our 'Star Students' 2008
Each month Merit Awards are presented to selected students; judged on attendance, positive attitude and progress made in study. This is what some of our 'Stars' of 2008 say about us:
Yasmin - January 2008 'Junior Star'
"I think my tutor Alison is really friendly and nice and she gives me a lot of support in maths. It has helped me get higher marks in tests and it has given me lots of confidence."
Bethany - February 2008 'Junior Star'
"I enjoy working on the computers and I get to know new people. I always feel I have worked hard and that Hilary is happy with me. I am more confident with my English and now I enjoy writing and reading more. It has helped my confidence grow and also helped my maths.

"I enjoy working on the computers at Kip McGrath, especially the games. Hilary is always nice and friendly and helps me out a lot. Coming to Kip has given me confidence and showed me that I can do spelling."

Most of all, I think I enjoy being with Hilary. During being at Kip, I've gained confidence with problem solving and angles. I have moved up a group in maths - now I'm in the top group. Kip has helped me gain confidence in maths!"
Emma - April 2008 'Junior Star'
"I enjoy the times table games on the computer. My teachers help when I'm stuck and they explain the answer to me. My handwriting has improved and I can now stand in front of the class and answer questions. I have gained confidence because I'm no longer afraid."
Dominic - May 2008 'Junior Star'
"The teachers are nice. It helps you a lot because you learn your times tables quicker than at school. At the last head to head quick fire answer competition in school I came second overall. The computer games are really good!"
Jemma - September 2008 'Junior Star'
"Being the star of the month is fantastic. It feels like I have achieved something that I couldn’t do before. The times tables on the computer have made me more confident at them, than I was in Year 5. My teacher Mrs. Jones said I am one of the best in the class at times tables, because I keep on getting 20 out of 20 in my tests."

Charlotte - October 2008 'Infant Star'
"Hilary is very nice and kind to me. I think she is a very good teacher. She explains things so I can understand. I have learnt lots of Maths, counting on 10 and taking off 10, adding on nine and fractions. It has helped me lots at school and I enjoy maths."
Ruby - October 2008 'Junior Star'
"I like the computer games and I like Hilary. I've learned lots of things. I'm getting higher marks and better levels at school. I've more confidence in maths and it's put me at one of the top of the class."
Elizabeth - November 2008 'Junior Star'
"I like the games we can play on the computer and the times tables games. I have learnt my tables and how to multiply and divide. I know how to do things like factors before we have learnt them at school and I am now the fastest at tables as well as more confident in maths."
